How to disable FaceTime on your iPhone, iPad and Mac devices all together

Just yesterday, social media was agog with talks about this Apple bug that turns your device into a “hot-mic”. This hot-mic allows anyone who calls you via FaceTime to listen to whatever you’re saying even before you accept the call. If you try to decline the call, it turns on your camera and starts transmitting video.

The company has however dropped group FaceTime for now but we think it’s still not enough. You have to disable it completely if you really care about your privacy. Apple group FaceTime now display as “temporarily unavailable.”

  2. Scroll down to the option for FaceTime
  3. Toggle the switch to the left so FaceTime is deactivated (the switch will turn from green to gray)

To disable FaceTime On Mac

  1. Open the FaceTime application on your Mac (you can find see it in your Finder window, listed under Applications)
  2. Click on the “FaceTime” menu in the top menu bar
  3. Select the third option, “Turn FaceTime Off”

To sign out of FaceTime on Mac altogether

  1. Open the FaceTime application on your Mac
  2. Click on the “FaceTime” menu in the top menu bar
  3. Select the second option for “Preferences”
  4. Click “Sign Out”

That’s all you need to keep yourself protected from intruders who try to defy your privacy. Hope this helps and we also hope Apple doesn’t experience such a disaster again. The company has gone through a very rough period in recent times. Sales have dropped drastically and now users are worried about their privacy. Security and privacy is Apple’s main selling point and this is a big dent on its image and reputation.
