It’s the season of collaborations between smartphones and car manufacturers. We’ve seen collaborations like OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, Huawei Porsche design, Oppo Lamborghini Edition, Leno Z5 Pro Ferrari edition and so on. Now Honor, a sub-brand of Chinese smartphone giant Huawei has teamed up with Maserati to unleash a limited version of the Honor V20 called the Honor V20 Maserati Edition. Zhang Xiaoyun, Brand Strategy and Development Officer for Honor took to her Weibo account to tease about this smartphone. She posted pictures of the Honor V20 Maserati Edition along with some cryptic messages.
The picture had images of the Honor V20 smartphone with the logo of the car maker Maserati at the back just below the camera. It’s now becoming a common thing for Chinese phone companies to partner with luxury sports car companies to use their brand. Honor parent company has been working with Porsche for a long time now. So it’s only natural for the company to follow the footsteps of it’s parent.
Looking at the picture, the smartphone is a good looking phone with a shiny black cover. At the top-left corner of the handset is single camera sensor which sits above the dual camera sensors and LED flash. Below the flash is a text that reads “Ai Camera” and below the phone is the brand name “Honor”.
However, the device will come in two variants. The normal V20 and the limited Maserati Edition. The Honor V20 will be fueled by a Kirin 980 chipset along with 8GB of RAM. It also have a very good battery capacity of 4,000mAh with 22.5W fast charging. Rumors have it that the device will be loaded with SONY’s megapixel Sony IMX586 camera. The handset is also rumored to feature ToF 3D stereo camera. There’s no doubt that SONY will be smiling to the bank big time with this innovative 48MP camera sensor.
