Huawei Nova 4 launched with the world's largest 48MP camera from SONY

Huawei Nova 4

If you look at the specs of the Huawei Nova 4, you’d think it’s a flagship device. Nope, it’s a midrange smartphone with high end specs. These days it’s getting increasingly difficult to differentiate between a midrange smartphone and a high end smartphone. Most midrangers have all it takes to divert attention from it’s high end counterparts. Take the Samsung Galaxy A8 for example, it came with the world’s first punch-hole camera display design. The Galaxy A8 is actually a midrange smartphone.

As if that’s not enough, the Huawei Nova 4, another midrange device spots a punch-hole display and also a a 48MP camera sensor. This sensor is the world’s first 48MP (IMX586) smartphone camera from Sony. If midrange phones keep coming with all these juicy technology, I wonder what will be left for the high end smartphones.

The design on this device is breath taking ! It’s almost impossible to look at the front and back and not fall in love with it. The Huawei Nova 4 comes in special Red, Black, White and Aurora Blue color options. The display on this smartphone is huge. Big 6.4-inch panel with 2310 x 1080p resolution and takes the screen to body ratio up to 86.3%.

Huawei Nova 4 storage and battery

The Nova 4 smartphone comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage capacity. Of course the 8GB of RAM is more than enough. Nobody needs the 10GB RAM flying around these days like the VIVO NEX dual display edition we just reviewed a few days ago. Smartphones with 10GB RAM are just there for ceremonial purposes at least for now. Maybe in future, we’ll have a need for them The battery is a 3750 mAh battery with 9V 2A fast charging. The Nova 4 even supports dual standby dual 4G VoLTE connection.

Huawei Nova 4 processor and camera

The Huawei Nova 4 is powered by a Kirin 970. This is what makes this device a midrange phone. Don’t get me wrong, the Kirin 970 is pretty powerful. It’s not the latest and best in the market. However, the camera is what makes the Nova stand out from all other devices out there. The Huawei Nova comes in two camera configurations, the standard model and the higher end model.

The standard model comes in 20MP camera sensor while the higher end version comes with a massive 48MP SONY ((IMX586)) sensor.

The standard model rear camera configuration

  • Top Sensor — 16MP 117 degrees Wide-Angle f/2.2
