Chinese tech giant Huawei has said it aims to overtake Samsung to be the world’s biggest smartphone company by 2019. You may recall that the company has overtaken Apple who was previously in 2nd place. Despite all it’s many troubles in countries like Japan, Australia and the United States. The company is still very popular in Asia and Europe. The company said recently that more than 500 million people uses Huawei smartphones worldwide.
This year Huawei set a new record for itself by shipping more than 200 million smartphones in 2018 alone. It’s funny how the company has grown so fast over a short period of time. Huawei sold only 3 million smartphones in 2010 but 8 years later, it’s selling 200 million a year !

This feat was only made possible because of the success of the Huawei, and series. Samsung is currently the number one smartphone maker in the world but that might change if they’re not careful. In a recent statement, Huawei said that “In the global smartphone market, Huawei has gone from being dismissed as a statistical ‘other’ to ranking among the Top 3 players in the world.”
Huawei set to become world’s largest smartphone company
Last year, the company said it sold over 153 million units and it set a target of 180 million by 2018. Now Huawei not only reached it’s target, it also exceeded it by 20 million. If not for it’s troubles with the US government, by now the company would have been the number one in the world. In February, US intelligence officials advised Americans not to purchase Huawei products out of fear they’re being used to spy for the Chinese government.
This fear triggered by the US government forced companies like Verizon and AT&t to abandon a deal to sell Huawei phones in the US. Not withstanding, Huawei’s passion for making quality products will continue to attract more sympathy. As well as patronage from all around the world.
