As a swift response to the ASUS ROG gaming phone and the Razer phone 2 gaming machine. Smartphone makers Nubia has unleashed an equal challenge to the gaming phone market, the NUBIA RED MAGIC MARS. Now don’t be too wary about the name, I know it sounds frightening.
Having the words RED and MAGIC together could paint a really scary scene in one’s mind. Funny, now let’s look at the major things that makes this Nubia gaming machine special and unique even among other competitors. First of all it’s a 10GB RAM gaming monster. Yeah I know it’s not the one 10GB RAM smartphone, OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition also packs a whopping 10GB RAM as well as the Black Shark Helo as well as some others. Now let’s discuss the main specs of the Nubia Red Magic Mars in it’s full glory.
NUBIA RED MAGIC MARS design and display:
One thing that really makes the Nubia Red Magic stand out among it’s peers is the fact that it offers what the company calls shoulder triggers. Now these shoulder triggers are not exactly ultrasonic triggers, rather they are more or less capacitive triggers. However, they are a nice addition to the gaming smartphone. These shoulder triggers will come in very handy when playing shooters and racing games. The company is also offering addition options such as the optional gamepad attachment.
This attachment is quite similar to the Joy-Con gamepad on the Nintendo Switch. Other gaming options include the control panel to monitor system performance and so on. Now moving away from the gaming features the display on this machine is a notchless 6 inch FULL HD LCD. This display will no doubt hand gaming and watching movies very well with super crisp picture display and graphics.
NUBIA RED MAGIC MARS processor, storage and memory
I know I’ve already told you this device comes loaded with a 10GB RAM. What I didn’t tell you previously is that only the high-end variant will be loaded with 10GB RAM and 256 GB ROM storage. Yeah that’s right, it comes with other “lower-end” models which is also packed with 6GB to 8GB of RAM, and 64GB to 128GB of fixed storage. However all the three variants will be powered by the same chipset. The powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor .
NUBIA RED MAGIC MARS camera, software, battery and price
The camera of this device is a 8MP f/2.0 shooter for selfie while the rear camera is a 16MP f/1.8 camera. Everything else is the usual stuf on other smartphone. It has a headphone jack. That’s good news considering the fact that we’re in an era where every major smartphone company is hell bent on ditching the headphone jack. They’ll ditch the headphone Jack and tell us it was a difficult decision. How funny. The operating system OS of this lovely smartphone is the Redmagic OS based on Android 9.0 Pie. As you can see in the image above, it packs an LED strip on the back. That’s a typical feature every smartphone should possess.
The price is ($389) for those who want the 6GB/64GB variant, while the 8GB/128GB model is pegged at ($461). Want the 10GB/256GB version? You’ll be spending a whopping ($575). No release date for the global roll out however, it will be available in China for now.
