Now available on the Tesla website, the company has released a new Wall Connector for EV charging. The new wall connector comes with a NEMA 14-50 plug and boasts of 40 amps (9.6kW) of power. Tesla says the new charger can charge the electric vehicles 25% faster than the company’s Gen 2 mobile connector. However, this new charger is designed for the Model S, Model X and Model 3 EVs.
This innovative charger is Tesla’s first home charging solution that can be plugged into a wall outlet. Rather than being hardwired into the home’s electrical system, you can just plug it into a wall socket and charge your car. Also, it can be easily carried around wherever you go for easy charging. The NEMA 14-50 plug is the most common type of plug in the United States.
There’s no need for an electrician, just install a high-voltage charging system in a home and plug in. The two major advantage of this new charger is that it is easier to use and also charges faster than the old charger. The old Gen 2 mobile connector offers only 32 amps. While this new charger pumps out up to 40 amps to most Tesla vehicles.
For now, the charger is only available in silver color and comes with a 24-foot cable. However, it cost $500 and as I said earlier, it’s now available on the Tesla website.
