Tesla updates its EVs with Dog Mode and Sentry Mode

Just last month, Elon Musk teased about a new software update for Tesla cars. Now the updates are finally here with Dog mode coming few days ahead of Sentry mode. These software updates have weird names no doubt but they are very important features, something that other car owners would wish to have in their cars.

Dog Mode

The Dog Mode came first, in a tweet by Tesla, the company says “Introducing Dog Mode: set a cabin temperature to keep your dog comfortable while letting passersby know they don’t need to worry.” There are times when the car owner might take their dogs along for a ride, this mode allows the owner of the car to leave the dog in the car and go wherever they want to go. Dog mode keeps the cabin of the car at a comfortable temperature. Not only that, but it also displays the temperature of the car on the screen boldly for a passerby to see and know the dog is very comfortable.

To activate the dog mode is pretty simple, just (tap the fan icon while parked and set the climate to “Dog”).  The best thing about this feature is that it monitors your car battery. If the car battery drops below 20%, it sends a text message notification to your phone. That way you know it’s time to go and remove the dog from the car or recharge it.

Sentry Mode

This is one of the best security features in the latest Tesla update. Sentry Mode is simply a feature which uses the car’s external cameras to watch for potential threats. If someone gets too close to your car or leans on it, the car automatically goes into “alert mode.” That means the cameras will start recording everything going on around the car and if a thief breaks into the car it becomes even worse. The Tesla car will start blasting loud music and also sends an alert to the owner via the Tesla app.

Sentry Mode
Sentry Mode continuously monitors your car’s surroundings while it’s locked and parked. When a potential threat is detected, the cameras on your car will begin recording, and the alarm system will activate. You will receive an alert from your Tesla app notifying you that an incident has occurred.

To enable Sentry Mode, go to Controls > Safety & Security > Sentry Mode. You must re-enable this feature with every use.

Sentry Mode is designed to add another layer of protection to your car, but it will not prevent against all possible threats.

To enjoy this feature, owners must turn on the Sentry Mode as it does not work automatically. Elon Musk also said Tesla camping mode and party mode are coming in 2 months time.
