South Korean tech giant LG has unleashed the long-awaited LG G8 ThinQ. This is the first flagship device from the company and TechCapon has obtained exclusive pictures of the device. The smartphone first leaked on XDA Developers and I can tell you it has great design and specs. While other smartphone makers are trying hard to remove the notch from their smartphones, LG is doing the exact opposite. They are returning the notch with the G8 ThinQ and it’s quite astonishing. However, the smartphone is beautiful even though I’m not a fan of the notch.
LG G8 ThinQ design and display
Looking at the leaked image, we can see that the device has curved edges. A big notch at the top of the display which houses the selfie camera and sensors. The display is made of OLED and has a 6.1-inch display size with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
Unfortunately, not many details are out with regards to the specifications of this device. But what we know so far is that it has a horizontally aligned rear camera setup. Another great thing we know about this device is that it’s coming with a unique “Sound on Display” technology. CNET claims that the LG G8 ThinQ will support a second screen as an attachment which is also another cool innovation from the company.
The device features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner just below the camera. Also, we also expect to see a very sophisticated facial unlock technology on this device. The company is also planning to launch a 5G flagship device at Mobile World Congres 2019. LG’s new 5G flagship device will carry Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, and a huge battery of 4000 mAh. Obviously, that device will not be the G8 ThinQ.
In dimensions, the LG G8 measures 152 x 72 x 8.4mm which is slightly lower than the V40 ThinQ. We will update this post as soon as more information emerges.
